Sedona

  1. Sedona, Arizona, is noted for unique red or orange sandstone formations in its vicinity, which seem to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. These thick layers of rock are known as the Schnebly Hill Formation and exist nowhere else. Theodore Carlton Schnebly was the town's 1st postmaster (1902), and his wife was Sedona Arabella Miller. Since 1923 the stone formations have formed the backdrop to over 60 Western movies.
