Hashish
Hijab covered she arrives
at my till with her two young girls
"What is that smell?" She exclaims
"Hashish", I answer.
Her small kids hold close to her dress.
"There should be a law.
Especially with kids around.
They shouldn't have to suffer this."
The aroma of the previous male customer
still hangs around after she's left.

Hijab is Arabic for "cover," "screen," or "partition." It is a veil or head-covering that many Muslim women wear as an act of modesty and a religious practice. Specifically, it is an item of clothing that covers a woman’s head (and often neck) but leaves the face uncovered; it is also called a shayla. On the other hand, a burka is a long, voluminous outer garment that covers the entire body, with a grille covering the face; a niqab is a veil that covers the face, and is usually black (a "full niqab" covers the face and head entirely, with a place cut out for eyes, while a "half niqab" includes a veil that covers the lower half of the face up to the bridge of the nose, leaving the eyes and forehead clear); an al-amira is a 2-piece veil that includes a tight cap and a tube-like scarf worn over it which covers the neck, but it usually doesn’t cover the face; a khimar is essentially a veil with a hole cut out for the face and completely covers the hair, neck, and shoulders and hangs down to the waist or knees; a chador is a shawl-like fabric that is draped over the head and wrapped completely around the body, held shut with the hands rather than being fastened with pins or tucked in; and a battoulah is a mask that covers the face from the eyebrows to just below the nose, with a slit for the eyes.
ReplyDeleteHashish (hash) is made from cannabis resin, Pressed hashish is usually solid, whereas "bubble melt hash" (water-purified) is often a paste-like substance. The chemical compounds that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain are in higher concentrations than in unsifted or unprocessed marijuana, but since pure hash will not burn if rolled alone in a joint, it is typically mixed with herbal cannabis, tobacco, or some other type of herb.
