It is so easy to see
The dysfunction between you and me
We must free up our tired souls
Before this sadness kills us both
I've tried and tried to let you know
I love you but I'm letting go
If you don't know and don't care
Don't get upset when I'm not there
If you are willing and you want to
But still afraid I will desert you
Every conversation goes astray
Making it harder to stay
Perhaps it may be the only way
The beautiful memories we share can heal, but only temporarily
This wall between us is getting higher
And the ditch is getting deeper
I'm building a wall around my heart
Never let it fall apart
We have already hit the ground
But we are still falling
I keep coming around to pick you up
But you are so reluctant to accept my help
What a shame
I hope you find somewhere to place the blame
Until then the fact remains
We are not working
I think it's best if we say goodbye and give ourselves space to breathe

I used to hold the door for you
Now I can't wait to leave
I used to send you flowers when I fucked up everything
You used to laugh along with all the silly shit I did
Now you roll your eyes and walk away and shake your head
But the spark is gone and the candles are out
The song is done and there's no more sound
How did we get to this place of complacency?
How do we just move on?
Is it because we want to be free?
Well, that's not me
Normally, I'm so strong
I just can't wake up on the floor
Like a thousand times before
Knowing that forever will be
I always get sentimental when I think of how is was
We were so in love and just couldn't get enough
I remember how you used to undress me with your eyes
Now you never touch me and you tell me that you're tired
It gets so sad when it all goes bad
And all I think about is the fun we've had
Now all those sorry's don't mean a thing
We've both said things that we can't take back
Like a train wreck, trying to hit the right track
We've tried to open up and let it just be
But it just goes bad eventually
Do we stay together because we're scared to be alone?
We've got used to this abuse
It's starting to feel like home
How do we get out of this place of complacency?

A  letter to my 13 year old self after my parents passed away in a car accident.

You're angry, I know this
The world couldn't care less
You're lonely, I feel this
And you wish you were the best
No teachers or guidance
And you always walk alone
You're crying at night when nobody else is home
Come over here and let me hold your hand and hug you, my boy
I promise you that things won't always be this bad
There are so many things I want to share with you
You're the boy I used to be
The little, heartbroken 13 year old me
You're smiling, but you're hiding
I know that trick so well
You forget that I've been you
And now I'm just the shell
I promise I'll love you
Everything will work out fine
Don't try to grow up yet
Just give some time
The pain you feel is real
You're not asleep, but it's a nightmare
But you can wake up anytime
Don't lose that passion or the fighter that's inside of you
You're the boy I used to be
The pissed off, complicated 13 year old me
Until we meet again, my boy, I wish you well
