Daginne Aignend writes

HORROR NIGHTs

The coyote's howl intervened
by an owl's deep resonant hoot
Sudden silence is cracking ears,
disquiet makes the stomach sore

Eerie screams perturb the hush
Bloodshot, forked silver eyeballs,
Ice fingers, fear-frozen veins,
remote controlled termination

Roasted peanut memories,
brimming Chardonnay converse
Snugness at the grate-fire
after late night movies horror movies

  1. I would keep every ceiling light
on in the house, through the night,
and if I'm alone, I have to say,
I'd even burn them through the day.
