Kannadasa Dasan writes

      DESIRES ARE VAST

Why this day is so dull?
This day is searching the moon!
Why that night was hell?
That night was seeking the sun!

Why is this hill melting?
This hill wishes to be a bull!
Why is that sea shouting?
That sea likes to climb a hill!

Why is this bird so hungry?
This bird likes to be too hard!
Why is that lion so angry?
That lion wants to fly like a bird!

Why is this root weeping?
This root wants to be a fruit!
Why is that tree shaking?
That tree likes to be a root!

Why is this storm so fast?
This storm wants to be a fire!
Why is that fire so hot?
That fire likes to be an ice!

Why is this lady worrying?
She is thinking about her past!
Why is that man crying?
Because his desires are vast!

  1. As Aristotle said, "The function of man is to live a certain kind of life, and this activity implies a rational principle, and the function of a good man is the good and noble performance of these, and if any action is well performed it is performed in accord with the appropriate excellence: if this is the case, then happiness turns out to be an activity of the soul in accordance with virtue."
