Stopping The Tears

They will come!

Did I open the door?

I never desired them

or asked for them to come along

but in they slid

and now

I'm trying to stop any more

from entering.

I do not want a flood!

 

It's quite all right

if I'm happy,

they are welcome to come

as they make no mess

and

at times like that

my foundations do not shake

no doors are rattled

and neither does a flood arrive.

 

So, it's the flooding

that causes

an increase in pain

that rarely brings cleansing

in its wake

but rather creates

a sickening, pounding

head ache
