Sweet
Nectar
a
drug of the mind
your voice and breath
I sink in ecstasy
you say nothing of love
yet I drown deep...
I sink in ecstasy
you say nothing of love
yet I drown deep...
let me be free
from those old chains
that were nothing
but illusions
from those old chains
that were nothing
but illusions
you are the truth
an addiction of my heart
a pinch of destiny
blended with honey combs
an addiction of my heart
a pinch of destiny
blended with honey combs
Prometheus Bound -- Scott Eaton
Prometheus (Forethought) and his brother Epimetheus (Afterthought) were given the task of creating man. Prometheus shaped a man out of mud, and Athena breathed fire into the figure. Epimethius assigned animals their various qualities, but ran out of good qualities such as swiftness, strength, and flight, so Prometheus made man to stand upright like the gods. He also retrieved fire from the sun and gave it to man. Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create woman and sent her to Epimetheus to punish man. She disobeyed a divine order and opened a jar, releasing punishments to plague humankind. Zeus also sent Force and Violence to seize Prometheus and chain him to a rock, where eagles eternally ate his liver. Zeus later sought to seduce Io, a priestess of Hera, and transformed her into a white cow to hide her from his wife, Hera. But she discovered his ruse and sent a gadfly to sting her and drive her into continuous movement. In her wanderings she encountered Prometheus, who predicted she would become the ancestress of the greatest hero of all. When she reached Egypt Zeus restored her to human form; their son Epaphus became the 1st pharaoh. 10 generations later her descendant Herakles slew the eagle that tortured Prometheus and broke the chains that bound him.
