Neil Ellman writes

Inner Forces
(after the drawing by Paul Klee)

What proto-particle of thought
what word, syllable or sound
what random gesture
of the head or hand
creates a universe
so far beyond itself?

They began inside
and stayed through time that never moves.
They waited
for the first epiphany of light.

There are forces, dear child,
far inside
that shape your face
and command your will;
bend rivers on a mysterious course
and raise mountains from the plains;
grow stars and galaxies
where dust had been.

And they began with you
inside of you
and end where they began.
