David Norris writes

The Sweet Taste of You

Today in a slow moment,
I learned back in my chair,
Head tilted, tired eyes closed.
For a moment, I caught

Your fragrance in my own
Hair, hanging loose. I inhaled
Your perfume, thought of your braids,
Your blondness, the sweet taste of you.

  1. David's poem builds slowly. "Ina slow moment," as it proclaims from the outset. But the second half engulfs the reader with sensory remembrances.
