HE AIN’T A POETRY MACHINE, HE’S JUST NOT VERY GOOD

I follow one of them on twitter,
A damn social media, mainstream published
Poet who last week was writing so damn much.

Twenty tweets a day he’d post whilst i
Could barely raise the enthusiasm to do anymore
Than 3 and all of mine were about punk
And madness and a little of my writing but
Every single one of his said,

And i’m obviously paraphrasing here,
‘Don’t come near me i’m a poem machine
At the moment.’ he then claimed he’d
Written two that day, well this is
Already my third of the hour so now
You know why i despise them.

PUNK ROCK, MADNESS & WRITING

All this talk of punk rock and madness
Takes me back to a time when both ruled
My life. The music called for the madness
The music called for the drugs whilst
The drugs lead to this madness
But still the punk remains and always will
As will this madness and hopefully a whole
Heap more words.

A STEP TOWARDS IMMORTALITY

I’ve taken my foot off the gas at work
Back to 16 hours a week allowing me
To refocus here on the word on this
Luxurious Thursday night, nursing a
Glass more than half-full and an ashtray
That’s got a bit more to go before I
Chuck it all asunder.

Today all I’ve done is sit around, doze
Re-write a soon to be legendary story
And smoke as the daze pass here caught
In a never-ending battle to get on, closer
To death, closer
To immortality
And further away from those goddamn tills.
