Lumos
In the darkness,
I wept.
An empty shell of a man,
Unable to see the dawn,
From within the darkness of the night.
No moon dared show its light,
To pierce my loneliness,
No rays were given,
To warm my soul.
Until you reached within my suffering,
And saw my tears,
Held me in your tender gaze.
Your touch healed my wounded heart,
Your love lit the world,
For my weary eyes,
And within your embrace,
My heart began to sing,
A song of life.
Turning from the dirge,
Of a futile existence,
Toward my salvation,
A unity of souls,
My completion,
My salvation.
My fulfillment.
My love.
I wept.
An empty shell of a man,
Unable to see the dawn,
From within the darkness of the night.
No moon dared show its light,
To pierce my loneliness,
No rays were given,
To warm my soul.
Until you reached within my suffering,
And saw my tears,
Held me in your tender gaze.
Your touch healed my wounded heart,
Your love lit the world,
For my weary eyes,
And within your embrace,
My heart began to sing,
A song of life.
Turning from the dirge,
Of a futile existence,
Toward my salvation,
A unity of souls,
My completion,
My salvation.
My fulfillment.
My love.
The Mysterious Blackness -- Kevin Doberstein
In the Harry Potter series of books, "lumos" is a spell to produce a ball of light from the tip of a magic wand. It can also be used to illuminate unseen entrances. Used as a directed beam, it can also repel spectral forces. (In 2004 the Harry Potter creator, J. K. Rowling, founded the Children’s High Level Group to address the problem of institutionalized and disadvantaged children; she relaunched it as Lumos in 2010. The organization's motto is "We do not need magic to transform our world; we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.")
