Domestic Scene

here I am sleeping

in the early part of the twenty-first Century

two thousand years after Christ

ten thousand since we started demarcating;

drawing imaginary lines in the earth

later I am reading

and you come into this room on the second of April

to show me your alteration to your new dress

and you seem as natural to this space

as any other object it houses, but alive

the living have a habit

of appearing, disappearing
