Heather Jephcott writes

Gentle Patience

A brilliant purpose,
creating in us,
his loved ones,
gentle patience.

Times of learning
bring forth
a biting at the bit,
calling his halter tight, awkward
disliking the waiting,
the continued waiting,
the difficult slow uncomfortable waiting.

The pathway to gentle patience
often leads down
into a valley
where all we can do is rest
in the sickness prepared.
He knows the way we take
carrying us as we go
across all the most difficult spots
working in us to will his good pleasure
to trust him through
each situation
accepting whatever he brings along.

A brilliant purpose,
creating in us,
his loved ones,
gentle patience.
