Cockroach Meeting
In the
kitchen they gather
like wolves
or hyenas
the night
conferenceto share the spoils
like the
Knight Templar Order
up to no
earthly good and
then march
military-like
around the
corners
cloaked in
secrecy
like
unwanted guests
at a dinner
party
Vernon usually writes like a poetic diarist, but this time he employs a series of ominous similes to make his point. The cockroaches are like wolves or hyenas who, in turn, are like the Knights Templar, who become like unwanted guests. So we have a fourfold comparison to emphasize his attitude.
