  1. Adachi Zenko founded the Adachi Bijutsukan (Adachi Museum of Art) in 1980 in Yasugi, near Matsue, Japan . It is best known for its award-winning garden, which has annually been named the best in Japan since 2003 by the "Journal of Japanese Gardening." It can be seen only from the museum building and shows a different character depending on the season. In addition it houses almost 1,300 20th-century artworks which are rotated seasonally, as well as a permanent exhibit of paintings by Yokoyama Taikan, an important figure in the development of .Nihonga paintings (“Japanese-style paintings," as distinguished from Yōga, Western-style paintings, though Nihonga utilizes realistic elements such as perspective and shading ).
