  1. Haiga is a style of Japanese painting that often incorporates haiku, both of which are based on simple, yet often profound, observations of the everyday world.
    Though traditional-style haiga are still produced today, contemporary artists also employ digital imagery, photography, and other media. Though poetry had long been accompanied by images, Ryūho Nonoguchi(1595-1669) was the first poet to regularly include paintings alongside his calligraphy.
