Matt Borczon writes

This is the year
the circus closed down forever
this is the year
I started therapy again
this is the year
to report all your neighbors
this is the year
I used to dream I’d get better in
this is the year
to learn to shelter in place
this is the year
to finally scatter my father's ashes
this is the year
to deny climate change
this is the year
the air will be filled with gunshots and broken promises
this is the year
they’ll finally find all those lost airplanes
this is the year
lies become truth and truth becomes nothing
this is the year
to figure out which side are you on
this is the year
you get for doing nothing
this is the year
no one will accept blame for
this is the year
the circus closed down forever
the animals all died or retired
and the clowns have taken over the world.
