William H. Drummond writes

Complicated

Complicated
That is what we are
Complicated
Like a pick up at the bar
While she is quite amusing
She’s also quite confusing
Intrigued, you want to get to know her more
Her eyes are shining brightly
Yet you see, if only slightly
A sadness and a wisdom you adore

Complicated
Things aren’t always black and white
Complicated
Am I wrong or am I right?
The wonder of the world is this:
There is no happiness nor bliss
Without a healthy dose of loss and pain
We can’t appreciate our joy
Or love the ones that we annoy
Unless we learn we’re singing in the rain

Complicated
Things aren’t always as they seem
Complicated
Like an ever-changing stream
Sometimes it’s smooth, sometimes it’s rough
But we can never get enough
The complications give to life its zest
So, revel in the changing hues
Play your part and pay your dues
Remember we are all doing our best
