slow motion

heading for the blue pill
hints of fresh stamina
denial of the coup de grâce
the solace of rhetoric
void dreams
of instant blading
green gooey viscera
emerging to dessicate
turn the other cheek
they said
flashes weave nimbus
in the darkness
of the cellar
agonises the beast
beauty is innocent
glistens in shades of blue
death in slow motion
in a net of silvery lace

  1. Pfizer pharmaceutical chemists at the firm's research facility in Sandwich, England, synthesized sildenafil as a treatment for hypertension and angina pectoris in 1989. Clinical trials conducted in Morriston Hospital in Swansea suggested the drug had little effect on angina, but it could induce marked penile erections. So Pfizer decided to market it for erectile dysfunction and patented the drug in 1996. The firm began marketing it as Viagra in 1998 as a blue diamond-shaped pill.

, approved for use in erectile dysfunction by the FDA on 27 March 1998, becoming the first oral treatment approved to treat erectile dysfunction in the United States, and offered for sale in the United States later that year.[49] It soon became a great success: annual sales of Viagra peaked in 2008 at US$1.934 billion.[50]
