Heather Jephcott writes

Playing In The Shadows

Playing in the shadows

moving out, away from the sun.

Unable to leave the forms

sprouted over history.

Nothing much more

than mimicking reality.

Playing in the shadows

the truth losing its flavours

in the grey light.

Hardly amusing to other eyes

beholding and enjoying

bright sunshine.

Playing in the sunshine

observing the covering over.

Watching other minds staying still,

unable to explore in the dim light.

Playing in the shadows,

unaware that exploration is part

of freedom of movement....................

>>>>>>>>>

Playing in the sunshine,

each new time,

each generation

reworking forms

throwing aside irrelevancies.

Playing in the sunshine,

dynamic life, culture,

multi-generational communities

moving with the times,

assessing all that is new

evaluating

selecting

substance, appropriateness,

creativity.

Playing in the sunshine

recognising the beauties of culture

distinguishing corrupted aspects,

honouring what is good,

worthy of repeating.

Playing in the sunshine,

exposing the shadowland

the hankering to hold on to shadows

while displaying

God's spices,

his brilliant diamonds

his vast variety.
