Francisco Goya created "Los caprichos" a set of 80 prints in aquatint and etching, in 1797 and 1798 and published them as an album in 1799, but, concerned about the Inquisición's attitude, he quickly withdrew them from public sale after selling 27 copies. In 1803 he offered the unsold sets and their copper plates to Carlos IV.
