Susan Burns writes

Let Me Go

Misplaced by your silence
praying for release
desperate to die
too sad to cry

wasting away
day by day

Begging with my eyes
speed up my demise
they either don’t see
or they don’t love
me quite enough

wasting away
day by day

  2. "Structure=Content." That was the definition of concrete poetyry propounded by the Noigandres group of poet/artists from Brazil. Unlike the shaped poems of Timothy Spearman, which depict a recognizable form, concrete poetry is better understood as visual art made from words. The term itself was coined in the 1950s by European artists, namely Max Bill and Öyving Fahlström, and the Swiss-Bolivian poet Eugen Gomringer is regarded as the form's originator. Workers in the form are sometimes jokingly referred to as Concretins. A famous early example is "Silence" by Eugen Gomringer:

    silence silence silence
    silence silence silence
    silence ---------- silence
    silence silence silence
    silence silence silence

{In the original, the center consisted of a blank. I had to insert hyphens instead because this format wouldn't accept the blank space. My apologies to Eugen!]
