Neil Ellman writes

Diana in the Autumn Wind
(after the painting by Paul Klee)

She dances to October’s chill
lifts her skirts
a fallen lady of the streets
the passing of the summer’s heat
like hands upon her thighs.

She loves the rush of air
upon her face
the rapture of her skirts
that touch the sky.
and wrap themselves
around the sun.

Diana feels the northern wind
and knows that seasons change;
she rides the wind
as if she were the wind
herself becoming wind
while sensing death will come
with December’s snow.
