Duane Vorhees writes

On the Mountaintop
    after Yun dongju

I've come to the mountaintop
and the streets look like a baduk board
and the river slithers like a baby snake.
At this time of day
people spaced like baduk stones.

Half-day sun rests on a zinc roof
and the maggot-paced train
pauses at the station
barfs its black smoke
and begins to move.

Wondering whether this crumpled sky
will completely cover the streets
I’d like to go to a higher place.

[Baduk is the Korean name for the Japanese game Go]
