She, as the "Million Dollar Mermaid,' then appeared in a series of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer "aquamusicals," which featured elaborate performances with synchronized swimming and diving. <br /><br />Deborah Kerr was a Scottish actress who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress 6 times (a record for an actree who never won), though she received an Academy Honorary Award in 1994. However, she won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress 3 times, a Golden Globe Award for her role in "The King and I" (1956), and a Tony nomination for her work on the Broadway production of "Tea and Symphony" in 1953. One of her Oscar nominations was for "From Here to Eternity," a 1953 film which fetured an iconic love scene on a beach with Burt Lancaster. <br /><br />Lancaster was nominated for 4 Oscars, winning once for "Elmer Gantry" (1960). Before he became an actor he was an acrobat and singing waiter, then, as a soldier, performed in the 21st Special Services Division to maintain troop morale. Late in his career, he starred in "The Swimmer" (1968).<br /><br />Rock Hudson (Roy Harold Scherer, Jr.) appeared in almost 70 movies in the 1950s & 1960s and 2 popular TV series, "McMillan & Wife" (1971-1977) and, from 1984-1985, "Dynasty" (1981-1989), which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Nest TV Drama Series every year from 1981-1986, winning in 1983, before Hudso's involvement. Hudson was Oscar-nominated in 1956 for his work in "Giant." (In his 1st movie role, in 1948, it took him 38 takes to successfully deliver his single line.)<br /><br />Victor Mature's 1st starring role was in "One Million B.C." (1940), then did a series of stage and film musicals. After serving in the Coast Guard during World War II he was featured in ?My Darling Clementine" (1946) and starred in "Samson and Delilah" (1949), the decade's most popular film.
