THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
You are the sky without stars,
You are spring without flowers.
Your voice is loud into mountains –
You are the wind with dead end roads.
You are fire but never disperse,
You are the mountain but you don’t have a dignity as
stone.
You are a day however from morning till evening:
It shoots ices to the night’s breast – a bullet.
A vexation tortures the soul steadily,
The wet air inside your world.
A space is shiny in dreams, dark in wakefulness,
In your words… unanswered questions.
You are the sky without stars…

Darvaza 2010 -- Julian Bell
In 1971 Soviet engineers were looking for fuel in the Karakum desert in Turkmenistan. Hitting a cavity, they decided to burn off the interior gas but lost control of the fire. The site, Darvaza, continues to burn.
